  2018 Road Racing Season starting this weekend...

Cookstown websiteNot long now! Attention now turns to the commencement of the Road Racing season this coming weekend - The Cookstown Club presents the fabulous Cookstown 100 at the Orritor course on Fri 27th (Practice) and Sat 28th April 2018 for racing.

(early Wed 25th) The Club have informed us that Guy Martin has had to cancel his entry for the Cookstown races due to gearbox problems which he cannot have repaired on time.

Hot on the heels of the Cookstown 100 races, the following weekend, the North Armagh Club will host the Tandragee 100 road Races on Fri 4th and Sat 5th May and two weeks after that the International North West 200 on Saturday 19th May with Bike week stating on the glorious North Coast on Monday 14th May - Its all good news folks - something for everyone.

The Temple Club hosted Round 3 of the USBK Short circuit championship on Sat 21st April at the Bishopsourt Race Circuit just outside Downpatrick.   In fine warm weather, action packed racing was enjoyed all day by everyone who attended. Sincere thanks goes to the Circuit owner and main sponsor, Jim O'Brien (AJ Plumbing Supplies) for providing a first class racing venue, the hosting Clubs, the Competitors and the many talanted and faithful volunteers who make it all happen so brilliantly.

Commencing on Easter Saturday, the newly re-modelled Ulster Superbike Championship has got off to a superb start with a very successful and enjoyable day's racing at Bishopscourt hosted by the Road Racing Club (MCRRCI).

Unfortunately Round 2 at Kirkistown hosted by the B & D Club was cancelled due to very poor weather conditions - See info above and links below.

 MCUI(UC) Marshals Association Training at Dundrod

Sun 11th March: The UC Safety Committee held a Marshals Training day at the Dundrod Race Center and David Wood House outside Lisburn. Over 80 marshals were in attendance.  If you are interested in finding out more about Marshaling you can access their Facebook page by clicking on their logo opposite. If you would like to join, take the first step by accessing the application form - here: and send to the Membership Secretary - Stevie Blair. You can be assured of a very warm welcome and meeting many new and good friends. The Ulster Centre and all Clubs are very appreciative and proud of our Road and Flag Marshals - of course, without them we would not be able to run our events.

2018 Ulster Superbike Championship is live !

The MCUI(UC) officially launched the rebranded Ulster Superbike Championship on Wednesday (7th February) at the Chimney Corner Hotel, Glengormley outside Belfast.
This very welcome and good news for spectators, competitors and the hard working hosting Clubs as it provides many new and exciting prospects for the 2018 motorcycling season.  


The new USBK logo and very valuable sponsors (see below) were revealed as well as a newly developed and dedicated website / facebook page - Click on logo opposite for website and here to open the Facebook Page...


On behalf of the governing body for Road Racing, Short Circuits and Trials in Ulster, John McAallister (UC Chairman) announced an overall championship prize pot of over £50,000 for 2018 season. To much applause John explained this will be paid out to competitors at selected events during the season and at the end of season awards night next January.               2017 Short Circuit and Road Racing Championship              Presentations and Awards - Friday 12th January 2018

The Annual Tarmac Short Circuit and Road Racing competition awards event for 2017 was held in the La-Mon House Country Club Hotel on Friday 12th January.  The event was organised by Jim Cray and Ivan Davidson and the evening was compered by George McCann and Roy Neill. Around 500 people from all corners of Ireland and the UK were present. See links below for the award listings. Championship sponsors included Dunlop and Avon tyres as well as Global Oils.  Over 150 prizes were presented to the worthy winners. Lee Wood presented the coveted David Wood Scolarship Award for 2018 to Gary McCoy. We wish him and everyone well for a successful and prosperous year ahead.



 Sat - 24th Feb  Use of On-Board Cameras

Within Supplementary Regulations:
- Only competitors authorised by COC will be permitted to film from on board camera’s.
- Applications must be made in writing to COC.
- Where such approval is granted, the installation of the camera and associated equipment is further subject to approval of the chief scrutineer.
- A copy of insurance policy must be forwarded with entry form prior to closing date for inspection, otherwise no onboard cameras will be allowed to be used.

- Competitors using personal on-board camera must have a Public Liability Insurance with minimum cover of £2 million.


Wed 14th Feb:    Competition Licence Medicals

The MCUI(UC) is aware some competitors are having problems arranging a medical with their GP and this is creating difficulties for them completing their application for a Competition Licence.
With the agreement of the MCUI(UC), Medical Panel competitors can now arrange to have their mediical carried out by Dr Campbell Brown: Mobile 0788 418 0815 at his place of work in the Enniskillen Hospital. It will be an after hours service with a fee of £25-£30.

Riders must provide their Medical Card complete with their Health & Care Number along with the MCUI(UC) approved Medical Form. Your Health & Care number must be provided to allow the doctor access your medical records.  The MCUI(UC) would like to thank Dr Brown for his help in this matter.

Competitors taking part in the Lightweight Supersport and / or the Production 650 StockTwin classes in 2018 are eligible to register for the Avon Tyres / USBK Championship grouping.    Please click here   for more information and Registration details.

MCUI(UC) Statement: 14th Dec 2017

Further to statement below on the 8th December 2017, the Motorcycle Union of Ireland (Ulster Centre ) Ltd confirms it will continue to run the Irish Short Circuit Championship throughout 2018.

The Championship will be contested over all 10 scheduled Ulster Centre Events in conjunction with the Ulster Superbike Championship.

Further news relating to the Ulster Superbike Championship will be released in due course.

8th December: The MCUI(UC) are committed to finding a resolution to the current situation regarding Irish Short Circuit Championship Events. 
Several meetings will take place next week and over the coming weeks to resolve this issue.
We understand riders confusion and the need for clarification as bikes are being prepared, tyres are being considered and race seasons are being planned.
We want this resolved this side of Christmas and will work tirelessly to achieve it.
As soon as we have any information regarding 2018 Short Circuit Championships we will issue a press release through the MCUI(UC) website and other media outlets.
